LIBRARY CARDS

Adults, 18 and older, must present a picture ID and proof of address (such as a driver’s license, tax bill, or rent receipt). Children, 6 and up, may obtain their library card when an application is signed by a parent or guardian with proof of address.
There is a $2 fee to replace a lost card.
CHECKOUT AND RENEWAL
You can check out 25 items per person (including four music CDs and four spoken word CDs)
Each family can check out a maximum of four DVDs and/or videos
Two Playaways may be checked out per family.
LOAN PERIOD
7 days New Adult Fiction
7 days Movies—DVDs and Videos
14 days—all other material
Fines are 10 cents per day per item for all overdue materials.
RENEWAL
Materials may be renewed twice—if they are not on hold for another patron.

**Library Elf is a third-party site. The Lincoln Township Public Library does not guarantee this service. Patrons are responsible for keeping track of item due dates and paying fines for late items.
Renewing your library card? If you are given a new card/barcode, you must log into your Library Elf account and update your library barcode number in order for announcements to continue being sent to you. Library Elf only accesses the barcode number you have registered and is not linked to our computer system for updates on account information. Only patrons can access their Library Elf accounts with the password they choose at time of registration.
Interlibrary Loans
MelCat and Interlibrary Loan
Lincoln Township Public Library is a member of MelCat, the Michigan Electronic Library Catalog. MelCat is a statewide Interlibrary Loan (ILL) system which includes public libraries, school libraries and college libraries. Participating MelCat libraries have agreed to share their materials with other libraries, creating a resource sharing system for the entire state of Michigan. Patrons may initiate their own ILL requests by accessing MelCat on a public access computer in the library or from home.
How do I use MelCat?
- Search OUR CATALOG to verify that Lincoln Township Public Library does not have the item you are looking for.
- Click on “Search MelCat”
- Search For:_____________________(Type in the desired material.)
- Click “Find It!”
The search, if successful, will bring up titles
- Click on the title that seems to be what you are looking for.
- Click “Get This For Me!”
The next screen will indicate what was requested and ask:
- Which library card/account do you want to use?
- Select Lincoln Township Public Library from the dropdown menu.
- Click “Submit above information”
- MeL Login screen
- Login with Library Account Information
- Type in your first and last name.
- Enter your library barcode number from the back of the library card (no spaces).
If your request has been successful, the last screen will say:
- Your request for (Title and Author) was successful.
- Item requested from (Library that will lend book)
- Your request will be delivered to the circulation desk at Lincoln Township Public Library.
How do I check the status of my request?
- From the MelCat home page, click on “My Mel” in the gray bar near the top of the screen.
- Click on Lincoln Township Public Library from the list of libraries.
- Type in your name and card number and click “Submit”
- Your patron information will appear.
Pay Fines On-Line
1. Click the "My Account" link at the top of this page to reach our secure site. Log in to your account with your first and last name and the barcode number found on the back of your Lincoln Township Public Library card.
2. Click the UNPAID FINES AND BILLS link. If your fines total $5.00 or more, you may click the PAY ONLINE button located on the left above your fines summary.
3. This button will take you to a secure online payment window. Enter your credit card information (no spaces between numbers) and submit your payment. Once your payment has been submitted, a receipt will be generated for you to print for your records.
Our new library system offers you the opportunity to keep and delete your own history of checked out items. If you do not want to keep track of your checked out items you do not have to do anything. Item history will ONLY be kept for you if you follow the steps below.
* Click the SEARCH THE LIBRARY CATALOG link at the top of this page.
* Click LOGIN on the top right of the catalog page.
* Login with your first and last name and your library barcode number.
* Select the MY READING HISTORY button on the right-hand side of the page.
* Then select the OPT IN button on the left-hand side of the page.Any items you check out AFTER opting in will be kept for you to keep or delete.
If you decide that this is not for you, simply select the OPT OUT button and the history will be deleted.
