Policies of the Lincoln Township Public Library

The Lincoln Township Public Library proudly serves the residents of Lincoln, Royalton, and Baroda townships as well as patrons from other communities with which we have appropriate reciprocal borrowing agreements. So that our staff works together effectively to serve our multiple constituents, and so that our patrons understand how our library can meet their needs, we have adopted written policies governing many of our practices and procedures.

For your convenience, we have posted here our most frequently referenced policies below. Please refer to these documents for questions you may have; our staff is always available to provide clarification or address any concerns that may arise.

Policies

Automatic Renewal:

Beginning on May 15, eligible materials will automatically renew without you having to lift a finger.

Patrons whose email is on file will receive an email notice stating the new due date for their automatically renewed items. You can also find this information by logging into your record on our website, https://bit.ly/419ilOp. If you do not want your items to automatically renew, simply return them!

Which kinds of items automatically renew?

Most physical items checked out from the library are eligible for auto-renewal(s).  Library of Things, Book Discussion Kits, Mobile Hotspots, and Digital materials like eBooks are not auto-renewed.

Which conditions prevent items from being automatically renewed?

  • Materials that are never allowed to renew (Library of Things, Books Discussion Kits, & Mobile Hotspots)
  • Items that have reached their renewal limit
  • Items with a hold or request from another person waiting for the item
  • Digital items, such as eBooks
  • Interlibrary Loan (ILL) / MeL items
  • Accounts blocked with excessive fines or fees

What happens to items not eligible for auto-renewal?

They keep their original due date.

Do I need to sign up for auto-renewal?

No. All patrons, present and future, will have their eligible items automatically renewed.

What if I don’t want my items automatically renewed – can I opt out?

No. There is no way to opt out of this system-wide feature. If you don’t want to keep your items past the original due date, you can just return them as you usually would.

Notice of Policy Changes
