LTPL recognizes the literary efforts of local authors and may include their works in the collection when possible. The library considers local authors to be authors who live in the greater Southwest Michigan area. Local authors wishing to have their work included in LTPL’s collection must fill out the following Local Author Submission form. Local authors may donate one copy of their work for possible inclusion in the Library’s collection. Staff will review all submitted work but this does not guarantee that it will be added to the collection. Any work submitted will not be returned.
Library staff use the following criteria when reviewing submissions:
— Relevance (LTPL’s preference is to feature work published within the last 5 years)
— Suitability of format (textbooks, pamphlet-like materials and brochures will not be accepted)
— Suitability of subject, style, and level for the intended audience
— Staff reviews
— Professional reviews, if available
— Quality of writing, including spelling and grammar
— Quality of layout, illustrations, and production
